What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Counselor position at MAGIC, Inc.?
MAGIC, Inc. is currently hiring Residential Counselors! As a Residential Counselor you will be tasked with providing supervision, assistance, and guidance for adolescent females between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. These youth enter our program through the Department of Social Services and the Department of Juvenile Services.
The responsibilities of a Residential Counselor include but are not limited to:
* Ensuring the safety and supervision of 5-7 clients
* Assisting the clients with acquiring and utilizing life skills
- Ensuring that the unit remains inspection ready
- Conducting and documenting fire drills
- Preparing and serving meals for the clients
- Accurate documenting the daily activities of the clients
- Accurate completion of incident reports when necessary
- Distribution and accurate documentation of medication distribution
- Provide supervision and assistance
Shifts with open positions are as follows:
Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 8pm
Weekend Overnights: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8pm to 8am
Weekday afternoon shift: 3p to 11p or 4p to 12a

Requirements for this position are as follows:
*Applicant must be 21 years of age or older
*Applicant must submit to and pass a State and Federal background check
*Applicant must submit to and pass a Child Protective Services background clearance
*A high school diploma or its equivalent
*A valid driver's license
*Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Professionalism is a must!!! Our youth can be challenging so your ability to redirect and de-escalate professionally is REQUIRED.
Residential Child Youth Care Practitioner (RCYCP) Certification:
All Residential Counselors must be certified in order to work in a group home setting. This certification must be completed within 90 days of being hired. Much of the certification process can be completed online. If you are hired, we will assist you with completing the process.
Starting rate of pay per hour: $14.00-$15.00 depending on level of experience and current certifications that pertain to the position.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
