What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Technician position at Magic Steel?
Magic Steel, a steel service center located in Grand Rapids, MI has an opening for an IT Technician. This position provides computer support to end users across the company for computer hardware, software, other technology equipment, and business-related applications.
JOB DUTIES include, but are not limited to:
- Provides technical support to all staff and customers
- Maintains and resolves technology issues in a timely manner
- Supports and maintains all desktop computers and peripherals to include printers and scanners in manufacturing
- Liaison for eStelplan ERP support and EDI support
- Participates in monthly closing procedures for ERP systems
- Collaborates with IT associates
- Monitors endpoint protection software and remediate issues in a timely manner
- Provides Tier 1 support of end-user applications and platforms including, but not limited to, Windows 10, Office365, email, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
- Provides Tier 1 troubleshooting of wired LAN, wireless LAN, and WAN connectivity
- Performs periodic inspection and cleaning of all thermal and dot-matrix printers in the plant
- Utilizes company standards and follow best practices in all aspects of the job
- Maintain a high level of security awareness in all aspects of the role
- Participates in IT On Call Rotation
- Other Duties as Assigned
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
Customer service focused; continuously learn best practice in IT and effectively communicate verbally and in writing; multi-task and effectively use time management skills; troubleshoot, diagnose and repair computers, hardware and software problems in a complex networked environment; plan, organize and document complex network activities and configure systems for consistency with institutional policies and procedures; effectively prioritizes work requests and work occasional long hours.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, or equivalent, and three years of IT experience are required. A post-secondary degree is preferred. Industry product or system certifications are recommended.
