Role Summary
Manage and coordinates all the activities with the IT Department to ensure the efficient operation of the company’s network, client services, databases and equipment he/she is responsible for, with the main focus on supporting the end user. The IT Manager will also work closely with the IT Staff and decision makers in other departments in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the evaluation, sourcing and implementation of all software including MRP, MES, EDI and change management systems; as well as all hardware and network requirements.
- Develop custom applications to improve the data collection process and increase information availability.
- Consult on production automation purchases including robotics, automation and operator interfaces. Specify the interfaces between the Magna network and these items.
- Develop, install, and practice all contingency plans for the IT Systems that support the production environment.
- Manage hardware and software providers, as well as, IT consultants to ensure Magna obtains the proper IT Solutions.
- Lead the team in continuous improvement of supplier cost through identification of most significant cost opportunities and tracking follow-up action plans to correctly initiate new supplier integration.
- Determine all IT requirements including staffing requirements.
- Oversee all reports, documentation, KPI’s, related to network and IT system operations.
- Develop a business plan and budget as part of the global IT Operations Business Plan and Budget
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including networks, data centers, servers, PCs, operating systems, and associated hardware in his area of responsibility.
- Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and IT systems.
- Responsible for maintaining positive employee relations including fostering an open communications climate, effective resolution of employee concerns, and consistent application of company policy according the Magna’s Employee Charter.
- Manage the budget for his/her area of responsibility
- Responsible for managing all IT contractors. This includes all contractors for installation, programming, software, etc.
- Support the Company health and safety objectives and directives to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all employees.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Additional Information
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an Information Technology environment
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, as well as, strong organization skills
- Stong computer skills
- Understanding of manufacturing, assembly, sequencing and equipment principles
