Shipping Associate

MPI (Magnetic Products, Inc) is recruiting for a Shipping Associate. This position is responsible for shipping quality products on time in perfect condition to the customer in the most expedient and cost-effective way. This position is also responsible for providing the accounting department with complete and accurate data about each shipment for invoicing purposes. This is a first shift position. First shift hours are Tuesday through Friday 6am-4:15pm, with overtime (as needed).

General Description: This position is responsible for shipping quality products on time in perfect condition to the customer in the most expedient and cost-effective way. This position is also responsible for providing the accounting department with complete and accurate data about each shipment for invoicing purposes.

Responsibilities:

• Package all outgoing products in ways that will prevent any type of damage during the shipment.
• Inspect all outgoing products for functionality and appearance.
• Complete some final assembly.
• Accurately enter required shipping information into the computer.
• Complete and comply with customs paperwork.
• Provide detail and accurate information to accounting (invoicing).
• Loading/receiving shipments using a forklift.
• Marking parts or products with part numbers as required.
• Making stock requisitions for shipping material.
• Able to build custom wood crates for large outgoing shipments.
• Deliver in-coming material to the appropriate department.
• Maintain a well-organized and clean work environment in the shipping department.
• Maintain company Work Standards.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to company safety rules and regulations.
• Meet schedules and delivery requirements.

Key Skills & Abilities:

• High attention to detail.
• Two years’ experience in shipping.
• Experience in packaging, building wood crates, and banding materials to skids.
• Able to safely operator a forklift.
• Must have PC experience.

Safety Equipment Required:

• Must wear safety eyeglasses while on the manufacturing floor.
• Must wear steel toe shoes while on the manufacturing floor.
• Pass forklift certification, both written and practical.

Physical Requirements:

• Stand – Must be able to stand in a stationary position 50% of the day.
• On your feet for 80%-90% of the day.
• Kneel, crouch, or bending- occasionally positions self to test, sticker, and/or package equipment.
• Carry weight, lift – exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to move material/magnets.
• Climb – Occasionally climb a six-foot ladder to build large crates.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour

• Highland, MI 48356: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

• Shipping & receiving: 2 years (Preferred)
