Position Opening: Associate Dean of Curriculum and Instruction

The Associate Dean of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for supporting Magnificat High School’s faculty in
adopting, adapting and integrating emerging instructional strategies and approaches that respond to and are inclusive of
the diverse abilities, identities, needs and interests of all students. This position partners with the Dean of Faculty and
Academics to provide leadership and expertise in innovative approaches and school initiatives.

Reports to: Dean of Faculty and Academics

Classification: Exempt, Full time 12 months

Projected start date: July 1, 2022

Position Summary:

Key areas of responsibility include:
  • Initiate and guide the development of innovative approaches, cross-curricular lessons, and discussion models
that support diverse views.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of the OCSAA School Improvement Plan.
  • Develop and hold teachers accountable for professional goal-setting relating to OCSAA and Strategic Plan goals.
  • Mentor new faculty members.
  • Conduct classroom observations and discuss instructional strengths and potential growth areas with faculty.
  • Guide teachers in their professional growth and implement professional development options which include
opportunities that support the integration of racial literacy and strategies to support diverse learning styles.
  • As requested, work collaboratively with the Dean of Faculty & Academics to direct instructional-related in-service

training designed to support the implementation of newly developed curricula and innovative instructional
strategies

  • Provide leadership for the school accreditation process.
  • Facilitate curriculum development and revisions; manage the curriculum software platform (Digital Academy).
  • Serve as liaison with the College Board and conduct yearly AP course audits.
  • Provide leadership on the curriculum committee.
  • Work with Senior Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Dean of Faculty and Academics, Department

Chairpersons, and teachers with a focus on developing and sustaining a curriculum that focuses on diversity,
equity, inclusion and the identification and response to racism.

  • In all areas of responsibility work to build a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative community with students,
colleagues, parents, and others.

Position qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education or Educational Leadership
  • Minimum seven-years prior teaching experience
  • Active license teacher preferred
  • Proven track record of success in designing and implementing curriculum preferably at a high school level
  • Experience coaching and building the capacity of educators
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current pedagogies, student-centered and holistic approaches
  • Knowledge of a range of teaching and learning theories and practice
  • Knowledge and experience with innovative instructional strategies and current learning research
  • Strong knowledge of diversity programming and strategic goals with meaningful outcomes
  • Strategic and critical thinker with proven ability to lead thoughtful, transformative action in organizations.
  • Ability to meaningfully engage a wide variety of stakeholders in challenging dialogue and critical self-reflection
around racial identity, implicit bias, systemic racism and structural inequities.
  • Initiates, builds and manages cohesive partnerships and professional relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Superior written, verbal, and multimodal communication skills
  • Ability to interact comfortably with students, parents and faculty
  • Strong training, coaching, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with faculty.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and good judgment on sensitive matters is essential.
  • Ability to work extended days, evenings and weekends periodically, as needed
