Washes dishes, pots, pans and trays used within the hospital. Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils in a clean and orderly condition. Performs minor food and drink preparation, as well as overall cashiering duties all the while maintaining positive guest relations with the patrons of the Café as well as their co-workers. Maintains overall dining room, Coffee House and Food Court cleanliness. Takes care of in-coming stock for the main food orders as they are delivered, including but not limited to heavy lifting, deep cleaning and temperature monitoring.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Scrapes, rinses, scrubs, loads, unloads, stacks dishes, washes dishes and pots and pans by hand
- Sweep and mop dish and pan rooms as needed but at least daily; de-lime dish machine weekly, clean work area daily; complete 2 in-depth cleaning tasks each week

Gathering all items needed for special functions (dishes, utensil, glassware, condiments, etc); setting the room up and/or breaking the room down from special functions; putting away pots, pans, dishes

Stocking and cleaning all areas in dining room, food court and coffee house; making drinks; baking; sweeping; mopping; assisting guests; rotating pop; inventory; ordering; filling dept. requisitions; track temperatures; vacuuming; customer service

Sitting or standing while completing transactions; balancing register

Lifting cases of stock; putting away individual items; breaking down boxes; rotating stock

Cleaning out deep fryers; filling fryers; sweeping and mopping underneath and behind deep fryers, floor mats and walk-in cooler and freezer

Using automatic slicer to slice deli meats; package meat into smaller packs; proper storage
- Accurately operates cash register following established procedures for cash verification and accountability.

Correctly and accurately makes change for customers without relying on the cash register.

Effectively reads order tickets and observes food on guest tray(s) to quickly process order(s) and insure good customer flow.

Effectively makes eye contact with guests and anticipates customer preferences in an attempt to establish and maintain good guest relations and encourage return visits through customer satisfaction.

Politely assists patrons with tray handling and giving directions through Food Court.

Effectively and cooperatively works with the other cashiers as well as “kitchen” staff to serve all patients, patrons to the Café, and visitors to the Conference Center.

Prepares and/or serves quality food items for patrons following Ohio Department of Health Uniform Food Code and HACCP guidelines.

Brews coffees, prepares smoothies and cappuccinos, etc. to meet customers’ expectations, needs and demands.
- Consistently ensures that all items in the Coffee House are stocked and ready for customer use.

Accurately takes and records inventory amounts for Pepsi products as well as Coffee House items.

Monitors foods being prepared by taste and smell to insure quality of product.
- Consistently bakes pastries, etc. according to established guidelines.

To meet customer demands, continually evaluates par levels of daily baked goods making recommendations for adjustments as necessary.

Consistently ensures that all items within the Food Court are stocked and ready for customer use.

Consistently takes and records temperatures of refrigerators in the Coffee House and reports issues to maintenance as necessary.

Effectively and in a timely manner wipes tables and seats in the dining area with the appropriate cleaning tool(s).

As necessary, and at slower foot traffic times, maintains the appearance of the tile floors in the Food Court and Coffee Shop by sweeping, mopping, etc.

As necessary, and preferably when the dining room is empty, maintains the appearance of the carpeted floor by sweeping, moving tables, etc.

Functions as hostess for the Fulton Street Café providing refills, cleaning tables, and maintaining the overall appearance of the dining room.
- Tracking temperatures of frozen and refrigerated foods as they are unloaded; checking in inventory; labeling and dating food items; transferring items out of corrugated cardboard
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions; ensures compliance with Joint Commission and other external and internal regulatory agencies.

Maintains the integrity of confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policy, including accessing, using and disclosing patient information relevant to the individual employee’s job duties. Also maintains confidentiality of other customer and hospital business affairs.

Adheres to the standards of Magruder Hospital’s corporate compliance policies and seeks guidance and training when necessary to resolve questions about the policies. Reports violations in accordance with corporate compliance and organizational standards.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; Shows respect for co-workers by following established break times; Keeps personal conversations and telephone calls to a minimum.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
