- Ensure health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and programs comply with company, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage environmental programs. Maintain log of chemicals used at facility and corresponding safety data sheets (SDS).
- Lead and coordinate environmental systems activities to meet the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guideline.
- Respond to and facilitate investigations for HSE incidents and near misses, assist with identification of root causes, and drive implementation of corrective actions.
- Manage position specific safety and health training programs to educate employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
- Review new machinery, equipment, and plant layout changes to ensure a proactive safety approach.
- Monitor occupational health and industrial hygiene activities including air sampling, noise measurements, etc.
- Inspect facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where needed and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Organize ergonomic assessments and job hazard analysis for all areas.
- Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is available for employees.
- Facilitate visitor/contractor expectations pertaining to plant safety.
- Manage internal audits and annual certification programs.
- Maintain HSE files and records. Compiles and submits accident and other reports as required by regulatory agencies.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for supervising a team of Health, Safety, and Environmental Representatives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Health/Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent related experience
- Supervisor Level (Career Band Level S2) minimum of 7 years previous or related experience preferred
- Strong leadership and decision making skills required, ability to make difficult
decisions and set the example for employees
- Ability to manage short and/or long-term projects to successful completion
- Ability to identify and take the initiative to solve problems, to work within deadlines with a high attention to detail, and to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Strong business acumen and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships with all levels of employees, including HSE colleagues and senior level management and/or executives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery
- Must have broad, basic understanding of federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations
- Advanced computer skills, especially in MS Office
- Certified safety professional (CSP) and/or certified industrial hygienist (CIH) certifications preferred
CAREER BAND LEVEL

Must be fluent in English. Working-level second language skills is a plus. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and directors, and to present to groups of customers or employees of the organization. Values and considers the perspectives and backgrounds of all parties.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts and information typically taught during a four-year college or university course.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The environment will vary in this position based on assignments. When working in the office environment noise is generally minimal.
The environment in manufacturing plants and testing labs are often loud, hot, and with particulates in the air. Working environment may contain potentially hazardous materials such as acids, solvents, oils, and common etchants. In such environments, adherence to PPE regulations is required.
WORK HOURS
Employees must be able to work additional hours and/or additional days during the payroll week which can be in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll week.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Domestic/international travel with/without overnight stay may be required.
