What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Mahoney Foundries, Inc.?
SUMMARY: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of assigned production areas by arrangement of work in process. Required to maintain efficient, orderly and safe storage so you can pull inventory required for production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all safety procedures
- Complete a daily Forklift inspection- must maintain a three-ring binder with all the inspections filed by the month and date. (front office can provide the 3-ring binder and month tabs)
- Unload all receiving -if you sign for packages you need to give the packing notes and counts to the shipping office. (make sure the packages quantity you sign for matches what is delivered) Do not distribute any product without making sure you have the packing list and bill of lading from the shipping company are turned into the office
- Receive all incoming raw materials- metal must be marked by alloy
- Responsible for daily sand additions, check levels are high enough for the screen to be working
- Must be able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock and production, especially detailed on grinding room inventory (all production must be added to the sheet provided on the West wall of grinding room
- Conveys materials from storage or other building to designated areas, if raw materials you must understand the safety rules for keeping metal dry always.
- Able to carry out written and oral instructions
- Good use of skill with manual dollies, carts, pallet jacks and fork lift.
- Keep up with the demand for raw materials in the melt room, cut off, grinding
- Other tasks as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Must be able to read and write English
- Trained forklift driver
- Good skill in use of manual dollies, carts or pallet jacks
- Good skill in using tools for material handling task such as hammers, pliers, strapping, stretch wrapping tools, metal bank sheers and tape fasteners
