What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern position at Main Salvation Army?
The Way Out (TWO) Extended Recovery Intern is a temporary position and will provide support primarily to Director of Extended Recovery by analyzing our data-gathering practices, identifying best practices in gathering and reporting data on outcomes, articulating our model and our key performance indicators, and developing analytics and reporting practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Survey the state of outcome reporting in social services, in particular, longitudinal studies indicating outcomes from various modalities of substance use treatment and aftercare.
- Establish baseline data that can be compared to outcomes for The Way Out Extended Recovery Program.
- Generate a report on our current data-gathering practices and identify any deficits or gaps. Generate a report and recommendations for strengthening our data-gathering practices and analytics.
- Review our program objectives and key performance indicators and provide a report and recommendations to help align our KPI with our program objectives.
- Provide a report and recommendation for reporting cadence: monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Poll data consumers (employees, board members) and identify data needs.
- Generate a draft report based on current data on outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Director of Extended Recovery to articulate our program model and desired outcomes as well as our key performance indicators.
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, accurate and precise.
- Interest in event planning, non-profit work, and/or fundraising, a plus
- Ability to maintain good rapport with other staff members, corps personnel and the public.
- Knowledge of Salvation Army practices, policies, and organization is desirable.

- Able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to take initiative.
- Capable of maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Capable of handling multiple projects.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
