To manage, direct, develop and administer all special education programs and services. Maintain a unified community infrastructure to address the needs of all students with disabilities.
Administration/Organizational Management:
Administer special education and 504 services.
Demonstrate an expert knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to special education.
Develop maintain and revise local special education policies in accordance with State and Federal regulations and implement procedures to operationalize district policy.
Maintain collaborative and effective interpersonal relationships with all other district personnel.
Administer all Federal entitlements and Medicaid funds in support of special education programs.
Represent the district in all matters of special education due process procedures, seeking reasonable and equitable resolution for all parties.
Personnel:
Recommend the hiring and retention of qualified professional and non-professional special education personnel to the Superintendent.
Supervision and evaluation of the District’s Special Services Coordinators.
In collaboration with building administrators and special services coordinators, co-supervise and evaluate all district special services staff.
Establish and maintain a system of personnel supervision, evaluation and development in keeping with district program initiatives and current professional practice.Program:
Initiate and support program, organizational and community development efforts at the site, district and community levels in support of inclusive practice.Improve the existing system of educational practice to promote appropriate and equitable access in the least restrictive environment for all students.
Finance:
Prepare and administer the district local and federal special education budgets in collaboration with the Business Manager for the approval of the MSAD No. 75 Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Directors.REQUIREMENTS:
