What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinician I position at MaineHealth?
Position Summary
- The Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinician I is responsible for evaluation, assessment, and providing treatment for persons who present with substance use-related issues, with or without co-occurring mental health problems. Services can be provided to family members or concerned persons affected by someone’s substance misuse. Duties include providing evaluation and treatment recommendations; referring to appropriate services; and providing education and counseling to clients, family members, and affected others. Evaluation and treatment occur primarily within the Addiction Resource Center. Clinician I Status designates a staff member with some training and certification (Associates Degree, MHRT IV or CADC certification) who acts with a small degree of independence and requires supervision and signing off on clinical paperwork.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Some college level training in Social Work, Counseling, Addictions Treatment, or related field.
- License/Certifications: Certification in related field (CADC).
- Experience: Previous work experience in counseling adolescents and adults dealing with substance use-related problems and potential co-occurring disorders. Two (2) years of prior sobriety if in recovery at time of hire.
