Summary
Maine Medical Partners is seeking a full time BC/BE Infectious Disease physician to serve as Associate Medical Director for Epidemiology and Infection Prevention within the MaineHealth system. In addition, this physician will join a well-established, collegial, seven-physician group practicing clinical infectious disease in both the hospital and outpatient clinic. We see a wide array of infections encompassing renal and heart transplant patients, LVADs, hematologic/oncologic malignancies, vector-borne illnesses, HIV, surgical infections, and diseases of refugees and travelers. Typical weekend call coverage is approximately every eight weeks. We work closely with four Infectious Disease PharmD specialists, as well as the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and Microbiology Laboratory.
The successful candidate will have approximately 50% of their time allocated to the role of Associate Medical Director for Epidemiology and Infection Prevention, with the remainder devoted to clinical practice and education. In the Associate Medical Director role, the successful candidate will collaborate with a network of Hospital Epidemiologists and Infection Preventionists embedded in MaineHealth member organizations, engage physician colleagues in infection prevention efforts, and work collaboratively with the Medical Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention to provide strategic direction for system-wide infection prevention work. The successful candidate should have at least two years of experience in hospital epidemiology and infection prevention, and the desire to scale innovative infection prevention approaches across an integrated health system.
