Position Summary
Conducts a variety of laboratory procedures under the general supervision of the principal investigator or the PI's designee. Assist the PI and lab members in maintaining mouse colonies, previous experience in genotyping and tissue collections will be useful but not necessary. Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, monitor experiments, make observations, calculate and record results. Must be able to recognize problems or deviations in experimental conditions and notify appropriate personnel. Masters routine techniques and procedures relevant to overall goals of the lab. Position availability is directly related to grant funding.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: 1 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability above that of a Research Assistant I.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and work effectively.
- Visual acuity, manual dexterity, math skills and a scientific acumen are required.
Essential Functions
Research Support
Conducts standard laboratory procedures and analyses using a variety of manual techniques and instrumentation to analyze experimental data
Maintains logs and notebooks of all workrelated activity to assists in the preparation of materials for grants and manuscripts
Examine animals and or specimens and measure or weigh compounds and solutions for testing
Follow training expectations as defined by project.
Follows all procedures and protocols as defined.
Technology
Uses computers, equipment, and hightechnology applications to perform work duties
Collaboration
Collaborates and communicates with internal laboratory members to work effectively
