Job Summary:
The Bay Street Yard General Manager is responsible to manage the day to day operations of the venue including but not limited to driving sales and profitability, ensuring a highly positive, engaging, and unique guest experience, recruiting and programming of staff training, procurement of goods and maintaining vendor relationships, sales and marketing efforts with the support of above property resources, special event programming, and ensuring venue meets or exceeds all state and local health and safety guidelines .


Essential Functions
  • Maintain compliance with Mainsail Lodging & Development company core values.
  • Create a positive atmosphere for guests and team members.
  • Prepare all Bay Street Yard team member’s schedules according to the business forecast, payroll budget guidelines, and productivity requirements per anticipated business levels
  • Review staffing levels to ensure exceptional guest service and operational needs are met and financial objectives are being met.
  • Maintain accurate payroll for all team members within the department in payroll software system. 
  • Comply with deadlines to ensure proper hours, PTO, and Holidays are paid out correctly.
  • Participate in required meetings to include: Departmental, Staff, Manager, Ownership, and any other meetings.
  • Coordinate procurement of product and operational supplies
  • Control costs by conducting daily/monthly par checks and inventory to review portion control, reduce waste, and ensure no interruption of service.
  • Work regularly to proactively source, monitor, and manage group booking sales leads
  • Plan and execute private group parties and functions
  • Work closely with food truck vendors, ensuring consistent availability of services and food quality
  • Work with ownership on conducting monthly meetings to review sales, profitability, guest satisfaction and feedback, and any other key performance metrics of the venue
  • Work closely with the marketing support team to ensure relevant content and programming
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which includes wearing proper professional attire.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Mainsail Lodging & Development’s policy, following a schedule which will vary according to the needs of the venue.
  • Comply with all safety standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient venue operations and OSHA guidelines.
  • Respond to all guest requests, problems, complaints, and/or accidents.
  • Regularly supervise and assist bartenders, servers, server assistants, and hosts on the floor during meal periods and peak times.
  • Conduct daily pre-shifts meetings to inform team of venue happenings.
  • Uphold standards regarding purchase orders, voucher of invoices, and checkbook accounting according to Mainsail Lodging & Development standards.
  • Maintain service and sanitation standards in compliance with the state regulations.
  • Ensure team members are aware of all applicable laws regarding alcoholic beverages. 
  • Complete all required training from Mainsail Corporate.
  • Ensure compliance with all F&B policies and procedures by training, supervision, hands on approach, and follow- up.
  • Monitor beverage staff to ensure proper portion control and maintain acceptable beverage cost.
  • Ensure guest and staff privacy and security by correctly following venue procedures, and by implementing and monitoring established protocol
  • Train, motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all F&B team members according to the company standards
  • Promote open lines of communication with all management and team members and maintain a professional work environment.
  • Ensure team members are treated fairly and equitably, prioritize team member retention.
  • Respond to emergency situations using information contained in Safety Data Sheets; keep SDS’s current and easily available.
  • Maintain and monitor “Lost and Found” procedures and policies according to company standards
  • Other duties as assigned by Mainsail Lodging and Development leadership and/or venue ownership

Qualification Standards
Education & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years in Managerial role at a high-volume bar, catering operation, lounge and/or fine dining restaurant or hotel.
  • Extensive knowledge of beer, wine and spirits is required.
  • Mid-scale to fine dining experience, lounge and bar knowledge is required.
  • Venue and/or special event management experience preferred
  • Toast POS, seating and reservation systems, and payroll systems knowledge preferred.
