Mainstay is looking for a Cybersecurity Manager, internally known as the Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager. The SOC Manager is responsible for three defined functions within Mainstay. These functions include:

  • Security Operations – these are both proactive monitoring and reactive tasks and apply to our clients as well as Mainstay. This function is a critical component of our ongoing security strategy and risk management function.
  • Network Operations tasks – these tasks are both proactive and reactive and revolve primarily around client systems and networks. This function handles patching, as well as addressing client alerts, and provides ongoing support for client networks.
  • Internal IT function – The internal IT function at Mainstay is distributed to a variety of teams, there is an RS Technician and a Systems Administrator assigned to Mainstay as well as the SOC. The SOC function is focused on onboardings for clients and new hires, and critical systems management, such as the full suite of CW products, as well as Office365.

This role is uniquely positioned to impact all teams within Mainstay and our client base. The SOC Manager is responsible for working with the team to build and define quality processes, build measurement around the value and impact of the team, and align the SOC organization with the broader Mainstay team.

This role also requires some hands on, technical support of the team, and while it will not require direct ownership of technical tasks, this role will be working through tickets and supporting the team at that level. 

  • Thoughtfully and intentionally leading the SOC team, including workload, volume, and prioritization management
  • Working with SOC team members to document existing process, improve challenging processes, and build new processes, as new tasks and functions are rolled out. Doing this in a way that accounts for process impacts to other teams will be critical.
  • Identifying processes and can be automated and improved for efficiency.
  • Reviewing Security Processes, Practices and Tools to ensure alignment with Mainstay’s Security goals and objectives both internally and for clients.
  • Supporting Security initiatives across Mainstay, build an ever-stronger security posture for both Mainstay and our clients.
  • Navigating the gap between Security and Efficiency to find solutions to close security gaps, while also allowing team members to function as efficiently as possible.
  • Supporting Incident Response activities and processes
  • Building and developing inter-team collaboration and communication paths to increase visibility and understanding between the SOC and other Mainstay teams.
  • Representing all areas of the SOC function in Leadership meetings, advocating for the team, setting expectations for output, and representing the team interest in larger business discussions and decisions.

 

  • Ability to assess multi-faceted challenges and define solutions that best address each interested parties’ requirements.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at different levels of the organization in both written and verbal form.
  • Strong knowledge of internal Mainstay systems and processes

Qualifications and skills

  • Working knowledge of the following:
    • Basic scripting, including PowerShell, Batch Scripting and Command Line
    • SQL databases and functions
    • Cloud Technologies: Microsoft Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Azure Sentinel, Office 365/Exchange Online, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, DUO,
    • Computer Networking: OSI model, TCP/IP communication
    • Modern operating systems and underlying services such as: Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), Linux
    • Virtual Machines
  • Strong knowledge of ConnectWise Manager and ConnectWise Automate, or other RMM/PSA tools.
  • Security certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with security technologies including Security Event Information Systems (SIEM) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR).

Location

We believe in Work-from-Anywhere AND in the value of in-person relationships. We provide nearly unlimited flexibility to work remotely, but we do hold team meetings and all-staffs in person.  We also maintain a beautiful office in Manchester, NH and a satellite office in Laconia, and we encourage each team member to choose their own balance of home and in-office work, that maximizes wellbeing.  We do encourage all teammates to come in weekly, but it is not required.  Applicants must live within driving distance to support clients, onboarding, and ongoing team integration.
