Guard/Gate Attendant

Majestic Steel is excited to add a Guard to our Hickman Service Center. We are looking for talented associates that are ready for a rewarding career at a company that’s redefining the steel service center industry. Our Hickman Service Center is expected to be operational by the end of 2022, so be one of the first to join our newest team. This role examines credentials of persons desiring entrance to grounds/property and controls and directs traffic on company property.

What you will do 

• Enforces established system of visitor control and employee identification at the front gate, facility/area access control, and incoming and outgoing truck procedures.  
• Examines credentials of persons desiring entrance to grounds/property.  
• Verifies appointment times for trucks.  
• Communicates with shipping and receiving staff to coordinate incoming and outgoing trucks.  
• Performs scheduled rounds in accordance with established routes, schedules, and procedures.  
• Responds to and takes appropriate action for emergencies or other incidents.  
• Report potentially hazardous conditions.  
• Monitors vehicle access in and out of the truck gate, verifies log and inspects vehicles.  
• Directs visitors and truck drivers to appropriate area facility.  
• Maintain various security logs.  
• Other job related duties and special projects as assigned.   

Additional    

• Must be able to walk, sit or stand up to 10 hours.   
• Must be able to work in both hot and cold conditions.   
• Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days, as needed, which includes weekdays and weekends.  

Who you are   

Education, Training and Experience Requirements    

• High school diploma or equivalent.   
• 1  year  related  security  experience  or  practical  hands-on  experience  in  customer  service  type  environment  including significant contact with employee and visitor populations.   
• 2 years previous experience in security and/or manufacturing environment. (preferred)   

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements    

• Good communication and telephone skills.  
• Clear legible handwriting.  
• Attention to detail, alert and aware of surroundings at all times.  
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
