What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President, Partnership Marketing position at Major League Soccer?
Overview
The Vice President role will lead the strategy and management of commercial partner relationships across the MLS enterprise. The VP will be required to marshal necessary resources to address customer satisfaction, activation, upsell/cross-sell, and renewals focused on the key goals of customer retention and growth. The VP will lead the management of commercial partner accounts (MLS, Concacaf) and be the business lead on marketing operations for the Soccer United Marketing (SUM) portfolio of partners (Partnership Marketing Operations).
Responsibilities
- Develop strategic account strategies and solutions and influence account growth by leveraging resources and opportunities across the enterprise
- Continually look for opportunities to deliver business impact and innovation by understanding client needs and presenting solutions and programs that lead to stronger consumer engagement and better results
- Build and maintain a strong relationship with key clients and be responsible for ensuring the satisfaction and success of the MLS and Concacaf partnerships
- Provide oversight for the management and execution of all components of the partner agreements
- Manage and achieve key business metrics, including revenue, upsells, retention, and overall account health
- Build and nurture C-level relationships across accounts to solidify our partnership and commitment to the client while engaging with the accounts on a deeper level
- Be an inspirational leader and create a vibrant, inclusive culture that inspires people to do their best work
- Be the PM Business lead on Concacaf, and other potential SUM properties, to recommend business strategy and maximize revenue
- Effectively engage with internal partners to ensure appropriate actions are taken for risk mitigation and timely resolution of issues.
- Oversee the preparation of presentations, recaps and other materials needed to manage and communicate program planning and status updates with key executives and core collaborators
- Track user activity and develop campaigns to drive client engagement. Ensure clients are finding deep value in the partnership by systematically tracking activity and managing targeted campaigns to drive engagement
- Manage budgeting and the P&L plan
- Lead special projects as needed
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
- Spanish language proficiency a bonus but not required
- 12 years of experience in sports marketing, brand marketing, partnership marketing

Total Rewards
Starting Base Salary: $200,000 – $250,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
