Making Cents International is a social enterprise that advances the social and economic well-being of youth and adults globally. We are seeking a paid intern to work on knowledge management and knowledge sharing activities across our company. You must work well in a virtual, deadline-driven environment and be able to work independently on activities that may include numerous steps and/or repetitive tasks in a detailed, chronological process.

Specifically, you will:

  • Support the build out and population of easy-to-use databases in Excel or other database format in MS 365 applications.
  • Help with creating landing pages within SharePoint so company staff can more easily access files and understand file structures. 
  • Create templates using MS 365 tools.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating knowledge resources across the company.
  • Support workflow documentation.
  • Provide support with administrative tasks related to knowledge management activities in priority areas for the company.
  • Support the company’s Knowledge Management Strategic Initiative team with their monthly activities.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Access to computer, Internet, and telephone.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Interest in knowledge management, organizational systems, and system design
  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Bonus:  Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 environment, including Sharepoint and Teams.

Skills Acquired:

  • Introduction to knowledge management strategies
  • Basic project management skills
  • Introduction to digital content management
  • Remote working basics

As a Making Cents intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learning from experts in a wide range of international development disciplines. You will be exposed to a breadth of expertise, knowledge, and procedures through participation in company-wide meetings and initiative-specific activities. Dedicated time will be set aside to ensure you are able to learn about subject matters of interest to you, and to participate in professional development activities.

Working Conditions:

This position is eligible for either full-time telework (remote work arrangement) or part-time telework (hybrid work arrangement). Making Cents’ corporate office is located in Washington, DC. This intern may work up to a total of six contiguous calendar months.
