About The Position
Dotdash Meredith is seeking a Director of IT Cloud Infrastructure Engineering to lead our Enterprise Infrastructure team. This position requires a hands-on leader with a blend of cloud migration experience and a history of running modern SaaS applications, on-premise and public cloud infrastructure. The Director of IT Cloud Infrastructure Engineering will collaborate across the organization to build, communicate and execute our Cloud migration plan, evangelize our Cloud first philosophy, and work through the team to build repeatable infrastructure components that scale with our business. The role supports the Infrastructure Operations, Cloud Operations and Enterprise Operations managers to build a culture that creates a sense of community and drives impactful outcomes, offering meaningful contributions to our operational maturity and multidisciplinary skills.

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

- Lead a team of managers (and their midsize teams) responsible for our Cloud migration, decommission 3 datacenters, our Cloud Architecture, Network Infrastructure, CI/CD framework, and our growing AWS footprint
- Act as executive sponsor of the Cloud First / SaaS First initiatives and advocate for ongoing adoption of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, cloud-native solutions, fault-tolerant systems, and high levels of automation and observability
- Establish IT’s AWS economics practice in partnership with Finance, to ensure infrastructure costs are optimized and aligned with budgetary expectations
- Oversee enterprise IT services located in Azure, GCP, and AWS
- Transition VM, Data Protection, and Storage technologies such as NetApp, Nutanix, and Rubrik from on-premise Data Centers to native AWS solutions
- Drive our migration to 100% cloud-based virtual datacenters via Azure, GCP and AWS
- Work closely with our Service Desk, Platform Support, Infrastructure Engineering, Information Security and Developer Experience teams
- Cultivate a culture of high performance, collaboration, observability, and transparency where all roles and employees, regardless of background, feel a sense of belonging and have the opportunity to thrive

- Accelerate our path to the Cloud by partnering through all aspects of our migration; from collaborating to set the migration schedule and creating success criteria to ensuring infrastructure requirements are clear and successfully translated into immutable infrastructure
- Contribute to our Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) by making iterative improvements to our AWS infrastructure, tagging strategy, base images, multi-regional configuration, and security posture in collaboration with the production infrastructure engineering team
- Guide the team towards innovative self-service infrastructure capabilities, including environments and tools that can be created with a developer first approach.
The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, MIS, Computer Science
Experience:
- 10 years of relevant leadership experience within IT
- Track record in modern software architectures and the required underlying platforms
- Experience leading DevOps or ITOps teams, supporting CI/CD pipeline, working with software delivery organizations to lead both operational excellence and adaptability
- Experience with Continuous Delivery practices, Agile/SAFe, across a large organization
- Solid skills in the creation of Technical Roadmaps
- Experienced in leading migrations from data centers to major cloud providers, with valuable insights into avoiding common pitfalls and challenges.
- Experienced in innovating platform automation and working with CSPs and IDPs. Skilled in integrating networks, systems, storage, databases, containers, and other application sub-components into consumable services across an organization.
- Experienced in designing and managing successful platform components, including their architecture, durability, provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Experience leading systems or platform engineering teams - organizing work for the engineering team following Scrum/Agile principles.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
- A highly collaborative engineering leader (manager of managers) who will lead multiple teams with a results-oriented approach in a hybrid environment.
- A supportive mentor and coach for engineering managers at various experience levels.
- Responsible for overseeing a major SaaS application as a second-line manager within a Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure, or SRE team.
- Outstanding internal customer focus – come prepared with examples showcasing how you've improved the engineer experience.
- Exceptional collaboration skills and a partnership-oriented mindset. Zero tolerance for "not invented here" mentality.

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
