About this role:

This role is responsible for leading strategic communications that promote and advance the reputation of MSH, specifically in relation to its pharmaceutical systems strengthening and supply chain portfolio and expertise. The Director will also provide direction, oversight and support communications efforts in relation to MSH's projects under the

Comprehensive Technical Assistance for Health Supply Chain and Pharmaceutical Management (Comprehensive TA)" IDIQ. This position will work cross-departmentally with all stakeholders internally, and over time will build a team to support this work. The Director liaises with donors and partners and provides leadership to his/her team's interactions with donors and partners.

What are the main responsibilities?

Strategic Communications - 50%

  • Promote and advance the reputation of MSH, specifically in relation to its pharmaceutical systems strengthening and supply chain portfolio and expertise.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the organization's content production relating to pharmaceutical systems strengthening and supply chain.
  • Develop audience-targeted materials and communications activities/events to promote MSH's work in this area, aligned with our strategic plan and business development needs.
  • Work in coordination with the Communications Department and project communications teams to ensure optimal content creation, promotion and visibility for MSH.
  • Determine strategies and direct campaigns to increase visibility, positioning, and thought leadership.
  • Elevate MSH's identity and brand through public facing materials and activities to drive engagement using new and traditional platforms and strategies to showcase the work and issues of MSH and our projects.

Programmatic Communications - 30%

  • Lead all project communications relating to Global Health Supply Chain IDIQ task orders
  • Establish and implement standard operating procedures, mechanisms, and relationships for collection and organization of information, knowledge, and experience from the project and its partners, and for its documentation and distribution through relevant channels.
  • Serve across multiple projects and program areas to ensure synergy, adherence to standards, knowledge exchange, and proper management of brand assets

People Management - 20%

  • Recruit staff and lead a cross-project team, providing direction, guidance, strategy to MSH's supply chain and pharmaceutical systems strengthening portfolio under the GHSC Next Gen IDIQ.
  • Shape, nurture, and grow an effective communications team that delivers quality products reliably and to client satisfaction.
  • Supervise and monitor staff performance, conducting annual performance reviews, providing guidance, and leading team-building activities.

Specific requirements for this role are:

Education and Experience:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Communications, marketing, public relations, public health or a related field. Master's degree in a related field. A minimum of 8 - 10 years of related experience is required. Demonstrated experience and skills in leading and managing global remote, multicultural teams.

Preferred: 12 years of progressively responsible experience is preferred. Experience in international public health highly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in managing stakeholders including donors and partners
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy strategic, creative, and results-oriented programs and products across digital and print media.
  • Ability to identify the most appropriate medium for select communications and audiences.
  • Experience managing budgets and creatively identifying ways to fulfil communications needs with limited funding or capacity.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, having written for diverse audiences across diverse mediums.
  • Strong knowledge of global public health issues and donor trends.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with USAID
  • Strong knowledge of global health issues; knowledge of health systems and supply chain preferred
  • French language skills preferred.

  • The ability to provide leadership, guidance and know how to delegate effectively.
  • Deep understanding of communications.
  • Ability to concurrently direct multiple projects for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to hear, aggregate, and synthesize diverse perspectives and feedback.
  • Contribute experience creativity and bottom-line sensitivity to elevating the organization's public identity, brand, and public-facing materials and collateral.
  • A track record of performance in complex and often deadline-driven environments.


The expected salary range for this position is: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually (U.S. locations only).
