Brief Job Description:
Provide young adults with instruction, direction, and assistance to prepare them for careers in the medical assistant field. Maintain a training environment which is conducive to learning, maintain documentation on student progress, and participate on evaluation panels. Assist in developing sites for work-based learning or job placement. Maintain an organized and clean environment conducive to learning, provide excellent customer service, and consistently model employability skills and intervene when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Current medical assistant certification and the ability and desire to teach, motivate and inspire students. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, the ability and desire to motivate and inspire students, and a valid driver’s license in the state of residence with an acceptable driving record. Teaching or training experience desirable.

About Tongue Point:
Tongue Point Job Corps Center is operated by Management & Training Corporation (MTC) for the U.S. Department of Labor. Located at the mouth of the Columbia River, the Center is one of the five largest employers in Clatsop County. Our staff teach 473 youth, ages 16-24, the academic, technical training, employability, and social skills they need to become prepared for successful careers. A Job Corps campus is like a mini-city. It has dormitories, classrooms, a dining hall, and recreational and medical facilities. Training is open entry, open exit and can last up to two years. Students work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success.
Tongue Point offers students training in 15 vocations: carpentry, cement masonry, clinical medical assistant, computer service technician A , culinary arts, dental assistant, electrical, facility maintenance, glazing, medical administrative assistant, office administration, painting, plastering, welding, and seamanship. We are the only Job Corps Center in the nation with a seamanship program, and seamanship is the Center's largest vocation with 120 students.
Tongue Point is following all CDC guidelines and Oregon state mandates. Masks and social distancing are enforced. Center visitors are significantly limited. The center has a COVID-19 policy in place.
