The Transit Division Manager at MCAT oversees the day-to-day leadership and operations of our public transportation system. Work involves responsibility for planning, supervising, and coordinating operations for the transit system. Supervises preparation of applications for operating and capital grants for system operations and improvements, prepares supporting financial, and operating statements and other documentation required by State or Federal funding sources. Develops and approves contract provisions and specifications for procurement of equipment, facilities, and transit vehicles.

- Plan, coordinates and supervises transit, paratransit, and trolley operations; evaluates services and transit needs, recommends changes in routes, schedules, tariffs to the Board of County Commissioners.
- Develops service programs, estimates budget requirements and probable financial results; supervises the preparation of operating and capital budgets.
- Represents the transit system and Manatee County on mass transit matters before Federal, State, and local agencies.
- Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.
- Knowledge of operating, maintenance requirements, and administrative requirements of a public transit system and passenger buses.
- Understands Federal, State, and local policies relative to public transit and para-transit systems.
- Can prepare, present, and administer operating and capital budgets for the division.
- Ability to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and supervise the operations of a public transit system.
- Someone who can analyze services, operations and recommend improvements based on such analyses.
- Can communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing to the public in a pleasant, calm, and courteous manner.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ work experience in public transit system administration.
- Minimum of one (1) year of transit budgetary experience.
- Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience. Prior grant writing experience highly desired.
