Manhattan West Enterprise Company (“Manhattan West”) is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join our Alternatives Accounting and Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a modern and fast-growing investment firm that provides proprietary alternative investments across multiple asset classes, and traditional equity and fixed income portfolios, as well as financial services including wealth management.


The Senior Fund Accountant will be a key member of our team and will be primarily responsible for managing fund accounting operations. The Senior Fund Accountant will prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with supporting documentation under US GAAP, perform cash reconciliation and management for the funds, and liaise with various external and internal parties to meet specific investor needs.


About this Position:


  • Located at Manhattan West’s office in Century City, Los Angeles, CA
  • Full-time exempt position with 3 days in the office and 2 remote
  • Reports to the Accounting Manager


Supervisory Duties:


  • This position does not have any supervisory duties


Responsibilities:


  • Perform cash reconciliation and management for the funds, monitor and reconcile accounts, and correct discrepancies
  • Enter journal entries and maintain the books and records of the fund or special purpose vehicles
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with supporting documentation under US GAAP
  • Prepare and calculate drawdowns, preferred return accruals, equalizations, performance allocations and distributions, as well as fund investor capital statements and IRR calculations
  • Calculate monthly net asset values (NAVs) and analyze fund performance, including portfolio returns
  • Prepare and calculate investor allocation schedules, including NAV by investor
  • Prepare periodic, year-end, quarterly, and regulatory reports, manage audits and review other fund-related reports
  • Liaise with various external and internal parties (e.g., fund managers, third-party fund administrators, external auditors) in the day-to-day accounting of the fund and other custom reporting and projects for specific investor needs
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements


Skills:


  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and fund accounting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fund accounting, preferably in private equity or alternative asset classes
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting processes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of background check and pre-employment assessments
  • Ability to complete the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation


Preferences:


  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • Prior experience in a client-facing role


Compensation:


  • Salary range $90,000 - $110,000 based on qualifications and experience
  • Discretionary bonus
