GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Technical Writer I position supports development and maintenance of documentation with guidance from Senior Technical Writers. General duties include developing portions of content, completing revisions and other document maintenance, and providing support to the rest of the writing team. The Technical Writer I reports to the Technical Publications Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates individual procedures and other components/portions of documents.
- Creates individual drawings in accordance with standards.
- Completes self-editing to ensure high quality information.
- Completes basic research and verification for individual procedures.
- Incorporates content provided by translators and other outside services.
- Completes tasks as directed to aid in completion of large-scale projects.
- Takes into consideration customer's needs and wants.
EXPERIENCE:
- 0-3 years of experience preferred in a pertinent/similar role.
- Some experience or education in communications.
- Experience with and understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud software suite.
- Experience with and understanding of Microsoft Office software suite.
- Experience with and understanding of ERP systems.
- Experience with and understanding of CAD/PIM systems.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Basic knowledge of or interest in technical fields.
- Effective listening, oral, and written communication skills.
- Systematic approach in carrying out assignments.
- Effective prioritization of daily and weekly activities.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in communications or engineering, or Associate's Degree and substantial experience with communications and technical information.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:
Internal
- Engineering and product development team members.
- Service, parts, and training support personnel.
- Legal, marketing, and other subject matter experts.
External
- Translation, service procedure, and print vendors.
- Occasional contact with dealer network.
LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:
- This position is located in West Bend, WI
- Travel up to 1-3 domestic business trips per year possible.
