The perfect summer job for a teacher looking for a fantastic summer! The Summer Camp Supervisor provides day-to-day oversight of day camp operations. Our Director of Communications plans everything ahead of the camp season. We are looking for someone who can take the plans that have been made, take charge of all day-to-day operations, and ensure campers have an incredible and safe experience.

Hourly Rate: Starting at $25 per hour

Work Hours

  • Pre-camp training on weeknights in early June before camp starts
  • Full-time (40 hours per week) from 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM Monday - Friday with some potential for occasional overtime during the summer camp season: June 17 - August 9
  • NO CAMP the week of July 1-5!

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day oversight in day camp operations and take initiative by solving any problems that may arise.
  • Lead staff meetings and supervise camp counselors.
  • Ensure proper adult supervision of camper groups and if needed, step in to supervise camper groups.
  • Directly communicate with parents face-to-face and via the Remind app about campers, any injuries, arrival/pickup logistics, etc.
  • Address all escalated behavior infractions or breaches of the camp code of conduct.
  • Address and respond to emergencies.
  • Communicate with kitchen staff about daily camper and staff meals.
  • Sign campers in and out, identifying people using photo ID.
  • Maintain and keep camper records organized including swim levels, health forms, and rosters
  • Assist campers in self-administration of non-emergency and emergency medication.
  • Ensure all minor injuries, camper sign-ins/outs, and incident reports are properly documented.
  • Ensure service standards for camp and youth activities.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Communications regarding parent communications and supplies needed for activities.
  • Keep all camp paperwork (rosters, registration, health forms, etc.) completed and up to date.
  • Arrive on time with a positive attitude.
  • Assist in ensuring member satisfaction by handling, correcting, and recommending corrective action for any complaints.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist in greeting and escorting members and guests as needed.
  • Ensure good employee relations by working with all employees fairly and consistently.
  • Implement all departmental policies and procedures as set forth by the Club.
  • Participate in continuous training to enhance career development and technical areas of expertise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Summer Camp Supervisor must have the ability to:

  • Take initiative and provide a positive experience for campers and parents.
  • Communicate clear instructions and comprehend and carry out instructions.
  • Work as a team player and lead by example to build rapport with children, staff, and members
  • Interact professionally and positively with children, staff, and members.
  • Play with and lead children in active games, sports, and art activities.
  • Work all scheduled days including any weekends and holidays; ability to close and open camp days.
  • Read, write, see, speak, and hear English.

The Summer Camp Supervisor must have:

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • A highly professional demeanor, adaptability, flexibility, and adherence to a strict level of confidentiality.
  • Incredible organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness to use productivity tool Notion and parent communication app Remind
  • Experience supervising and engaging with children ages 4-12 and staff
  • At least one season of prior summer camp experience as a staff member, experience in a camp leadership role highly preferred
  • Knowledge of art, science, & other enrichment activities for youth, and experience leading activities successfully
  • Knowledge of youth development

Required Education/Certifications

  • 21 years of age or over (required by state & county camp licensing)
  • Experience teaching in a private or public school setting
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Some college experience preferred; college degree highly preferred
  • Valid teaching certificate highly preferred
  • A valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification for adults & youth or ability to obtain certification before the season starts (reimbursement would be provided for course fees)

Physical Requirements

  • Requires ability to bend, stoop, lift, balance and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push or pull items on a cart up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to assist in moving furniture when necessary.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work outside in heat, rain and other weather conditions.
  • Ability to get in the pool.
  • Ability to move about freely on a multi-floor building.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:
