Hotel Assistant General Manager

Overview:

Position: Assistant General Manager
Reports to: General Manager and Owners
Salary: $65,000
Scheduled Guaranteed bonus: $5,000
Performance Based bonus: $5,000

The ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the property (Hotel and Health Club) including but not limited to front office, housekeeping, and engineering, while supporting the General Manager in providing overall leadership in the Hotel and Health Club’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability in a family-owned Martha’s Vineyard hotel.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruiting, training, and monitoring staff
• Planning work staff schedules for individuals
• Appropriately responding to and resolving guest concerns
• Addressing problems, finding solutions, and troubleshooting and being part of a team
• Hotel Asset preservation, showing pride in the hotel, including but not limited to: Supervising maintenance, supplies, renovations, and furnishings.
• Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all guests and associates
• Maintains high work ethic standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with the dress code, punctuality, and positive attitude.
• Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives.
• Learning about and enjoying Vineyard life.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years hospitality experience
• Demonstrated leadership ability – 1-2 years in supervisory role.
• Excellent customer service skills/ people-facing and pleasing.
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking.
• Computer savvy – proficient in POS / PMS and Microsoft Office products Familiarity with hotel booking systems and phone systems is advantageous
• Evening, holiday, and weekend hours required.
• Should be able to lift 20lbs and assist with guest needs on various floors of hotel.
