Role: Barback
Responsible for: Assisting bartenders by maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, restocking supplies, and ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
Reports to: Bars Manager / Operations Managers
General Scope: The Bar Back will operate in supporting the bartenders and ensuring the bar area is always ready for service. This role requires effective multitasking, communication, and organizational skills to handle peak service times while maintaining high standards of service and hospitality. The Bar Back must be proactive in anticipating the needs of the bartenders and guests, ensuring that all supplies are well-stocked and the bar area is clean and organized.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
- Assist bartenders in batching, preparing garnishes, glassware, and other bar items.
- Maintain cleanliness of bar area, including bar tops, sinks, glasses, shelves, and equipment.
- Clean and polish glassware, silverware, and utensils.
- Remove trash and clean bar areas.
- Assist with opening and closing duties as needed.
- Ensure that all storage areas are kept clean and organized.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels.
- Communicate effectively with bartenders and other staff to ensure seamless service.
- Handle guest inquiries and requests courteously and efficiently.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the menu, including daily specials, allergens, and dietary restrictions
- Assist in the preparation and service of drinks during busy periods.
- Help with setting up and breaking down the bar area before and after service.
- Handle guest inquiries and requests courteously and efficiently.
- Effectively communicate guest issues or operational concerns.
- Follow and execute all side work lists provided by the company.
- Assist team members as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Be well-organized, detail-oriented & socially perceptive.
License Requirements:
- Valid food handler certification
- TIPS Certification
Requirements:
- Have the ability to work fast & efficiently under pressure
- Have the ability to multi-task & handle high-volume
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs
- Must be able to perform repetitive bending, stopping, twisting, and lifting of products and supplies
