Working Arrangement Job Description Manulife is inviting applicants for a full-time Corporate Finance Analyst Program in its Global Corporate Finance group. Our Corporate Finance Analyst Program is a comprehensive, 2 year program designed to accelerate the development of highly motivated new grads who have demonstrated a strong interest in business and direct investing. Students in the program have an opportunity to work with and learn from an experienced team of deal originators and will benefit from a strong mentor-mentee structure that will enable you to begin to build networks both within Manulife and across the broader corporate finance ecosystem. The role will be based in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood where you will be part of a global team that makes loans to companies around the world so that they can invest in and grow their businesses. We lend about $15 billion a year, with individual loan sizes of $50 million to more than $200 million. You will be on a lending team that includes members in Boston and Toronto, and works with our offices in London and Hong Kong, evaluating companies in the US or around the world. As part of an experienced team committed to supporting and helping each other out., you will help evaluate the business prospects of our borrowers, the industry in which they operate and the implications of broader economic factors. You will build skills in financial statement analysis and will develop the basics of credit evaluation and investment analysis. The analyst program is structured to welcome business, social science, or mathematics majors who can combine an ability to evaluate the soft factors at work in our economy with quantitative measurement and analysis. Who You Are: Qualifications: Graduating in spring 2023 with a Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, economics or a social sciences or hard sciences / mathematics field. Solid conceptual understanding of/interest in business/economics, with strong quantitative analysis skills Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate qualitative concepts and support quantitative data and metrics to internal and external stakeholders Experience with financial statement analysis is helpful but not required - we can teach you that. Adept at using computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite Good attention to detail Your responsibilities will include: Credit Analysis - support lending officers in the periodic evaluations of our borrowers and their ability to repay our loans on time. ESG Analysis – support team members in their assessment of the Environmental, Social and Governance profile of our borrowers, including the carbon intensity of our borrowers and what they are doing to reduce their carbon footprint over time. Assist with the analysis of new borrowers and our decision on whether they are creditworthy. Special projects including broader analyses of industry trends, performance of the portfolio, or modeling of investment performance under various macroeconomic conditions.
