Maple Leaf Clinic is a dynamic outpatient mental health clinic in the shadow of Killington Mountain in Vermont that has an opening for an equally dynamic psychotherapist who is looking to join with a staff who not only provides exceptional treatment to the community but also is supportive of each member’s professional passions.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field. We are willing to work with individuals in the process of obtaining their license.
We are looking for clinicians with knowledge of; theories of human growth; physical, emotional, and cognitivedevelopmental stages; state mental health and special education requirements; psychological principles in learning and their application to treatment stages; cultural differences and impact on support provided to clients.
Someone who would be a good fit with our group has conflict resolution skills and ability to defuse stressfulsituations; effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills; ability to exercise independent judgementand solid decision making; ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Assess initial client treatment needs and formulates appropriate mental health diagnosis using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-V-TR (DSM-V-TR) standards.
Develop treatment plan incorporating standard practice guidelines for each diagnosis. Complete treatment plans, therapy notes and associated documentation, including coding and billing.
Provide psychotherapy, supportive therapeutic counseling, and education to assigned individuals with more complex or multiple diagnoses.
Apply therapeutic treatment models, such as behavior modification, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic and person-centered therapies, and brief therapy during counseling sessions.
Assess client mental state and potential to self and/or others.
Collaborate with MLC staff and other community professionals in the treatment of individuals and participate invarious community meetings, such as schools, DCF, and other health care providers.
Present mental health/behavioral health findings and recommendations in verbal or written format to appropriate professionals either upon request or as part of case presentation for peer review.
