Primary Responsibilities

• Process various transactions in the accounting system, including journal entries, billing and cash receipts
• Prepare supporting schedules for estimates and allocation of expenses
• Assist monthly close process by reconciliating balance sheet accounts and analyzing discrepancies
• Perform variance analysis of general ledger accounts
• Lead and participate in monthly financial reviews with community management by analyzing financial data and interpreting results of operations
• Assist with external audit requests and other corporate reporting requirements
• Assist with development, maintenance and documentation of all policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility
• Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification

• Demonstrates proficiency in:
  • MS Office – Intermediate Excel skills required
  • Yardi (preferred), or other accounting software
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 1-5 years of relevant accounting experience (public experience preferred)
• Basic understanding of accounting rules and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to work independently
• Analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal skills; able to listen effectively to solve problems, anticipate issues and make effective decisions; and perform responsibilities as a team player
