The Dot, a local café run by Maps Credit Union, is located in our beautiful new High Street Branch near downtown Salem, Oregon. The goal of the café is to engage with our members in new ways and to tell the story of our community giveback and charitable arm, Maps Community Foundation. The Lead Barista contributes to this goal by providing warm and engaging member service while also serving quality beverages, food products, and services. The ideal candidate for this role is self-motivated and able to work independently as a solo barista.

Key responsibilities of the Lead Barista include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as the main representative of The Dot café, maintaining consistent and punctual attendance, with the ability to open and close the café Monday - Friday. 
• Establish rapport with all customers to deliver excellent customer service.  
• Prepare hot and cold beverages and ready-made food items.
• Order weekly shipments, pick-up, and maintain inventory to ensure consistent product offerings.  Manage business credit card usage and submit expense reports. 
• Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, and rotating. Store and maintain records of all products.
• Order cash for the TIL and ensure the TIL is within limits. 
• Responsible for managing the schedule of one other Barista and any temporary Baristas who may fill-in as needed.
• Train and develop new Baristas and provide feedback to management on the performance of Barista staff. 
• Properly handle all café equipment and ensure equipment is maintained. Escalate maintenance concerns as needed.
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards and ensure that established food safety regulations/guidelines are followed. Uphold optimal cleanliness of work area and café.
• Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
• Enhance customer experience by uncovering customer needs in relation to products and services offered by Maps and its subsidiary (CUSO) companies.
• Support the Community Outreach and Maps Community Foundation departments during events held in the café.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the highest level of ethical behavior and a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 2 years of customer service, cash handling, and barista experience is required. Prior experience in a lead role in the food service industry is preferred. Must possess a valid Food Handlers Card or be able to obtain the card within 30 days of hire. Must be bondable.

Non-exempt pay range: $18 - $22 per hour, plus tips.

Work schedule: This position is considered "Part-Time Plus" (30-36 hours per week).  The Lead Barista will be scheduled to work 4 days per week, from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.  The Lead Barista must be available to work Monday - Friday, but a flex day off will be offered, depending on coverage needs. 

The Dot is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
