We are professional, agile and our goal is to Located in Forest, Virginia, Maranatha Farms focuses on regenerative agriculture to proudly raise certified Charolais and Waygu cows, sheep, purebred Berkshire hogs, Mangalitza hogs and chickens for laying and meat. We are a family farm focused on making high quality food available to the greater Lynchburg and Charlottesville areas..

Overview:

Join on farm team! A position is available to work on the farm doing daily animal chores, which include, rotational grazing, supplemental filling of feeders, managing the chicken hatchery, brooder barn, and moving mobile chicken coops daily. Once or twice a month to be involved in chicken processing. No experience needed just a desire and passion to be a quick learner and contributor in the process. After chores are completed, special projects are required such as, but not limited to fence clearing, land management, basic construction projects, lifting products, helping in hay season, etc. We believe in a team approach on the farm and work together in our roles and positions.

Responsibilities:

- Perform daily tasks related to animal care, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and well-being

- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in animal enclosures or barns

- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment for various farm tasks such as tilling soil, planting seeds, and harvesting crops

- Assist with irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants

- Conduct equipment repairs and maintenance as needed

- Assist with greenhouse operations including planting, transplanting, and maintaining optimal growing conditions

- Perform heavy lifting as required for farm-related tasks

- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment

Skills:

- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and interest in caring for animals

- Proficiency in operating hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment

- Ability to repair and maintain farm equipment

- Familiarity with farming techniques such as planting, irrigating, and harvesting

- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds) and work outdoors in various weather conditions

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

- Ability to drive four wheelers, tractors, and hay experience is preferable. As well as a tractor trailer to haul livestock.
