Position Summary:
The Finance Department oversees financial planning and management activities, including budgeting and forecasting, reporting and compliance, and creation of value. The Accountant is primarily responsible for collecting various types of financial information through researching and analyzing accounting data and compiling reports to inform the leadership team.
Essential Responsibilities:
Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Performs month end balance sheet account validations and reconciliations.
- File and remit payment for monthly/quarterly Sales & Use tax for various entities.
- Contributes to financial report analysis and documentation to provide Leadership with quality commentary of monthly financial results.
- Maintains accounting controls by adhering to policies and procedures.
- Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and standards.
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Non-Essential Responsibilities:

Supervision Received:
General Direction: Plans and arranges own work. Uses a wide range of procedures to accomplish assigned objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education & Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree specializing in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
2. Zero (0) to five (3) years of experience in Accounting Field.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
2. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint a plus.
3. Basic knowledge of general accounting and application of accounting principles.
4. Ability to interact positively with internal and external customers and use active listening skills.
5. Ability to effectively apply analytical and problem-solving skills to clarify and resolve account related questions.
