Job Description
The IT Business Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between IT and the business by intaking business requirements, assessing processes, and determining requirements to build functional requirements that are passed to developers and key stakeholders inside of the IT department.
The IT Business Analyst works in support of Account Managers’ client efforts as well as being part of business development efforts that involve Digital Team resources. The IT Business Analyst helps interpret what the client desires and works with both MarCom Creative and Digital Teams by initiating and leading the Agile methodology/SCRUM framework to provide smooth and timely delivery of products.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Works directly with the Account Managers on projects and business development efforts that require digital resources to translate client objectives into functional requirements; estimate scope, capabilities, and impact to existing resources and project timelines
- Works with Account Managers to establish daily priorities among Digital Team members with new and changing client requests
- Serves as liaison between Account Managers and Digital Team to set realistic expectations and provide education on a project’s scope and technical complexity.
- Applies expertise in Agile methodology to initiate and execute best practices for Sprint planning; hosts Sprint planning meetings; builds and tracks Jira tickets.
- Builds project management dashboards in JIRA for account managers and upper management.
- Builds dedicated views and filters in JIRA for developers, operation engineers, and technical resources.
- Captures client issues and proposed resolutions related to the development and maintenance of websites and online products
- Performs QA on Digital Team deliverables, documents issues, and facilitates discussion for resolution
- Creates work and data flow diagrams using UML
- Continuously improves and expands internal documentation
- Strengthens and expands client relationships to develop new business opportunities; participates in review of Statements of Work (SOW) from Digital Team perspective; and makes recommendations to Creative and Digital Teams on product and service requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Experience working with and integrating technical teams on development projects involving planning, documenting, and analyses of functional requirements in SCRUM and Kanban frameworks
- Understanding of digital and technical requirements for front-end and back-end development projects, as well as DevOps engineering aspects.
- Deep understanding of core computer science technologies and processes when working with custom software development, specifically on website applications and mobile devices
- Expert in implementing best practices and managing Agile/SCRUM environments using Software Development Life Cycle tools to include: JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket/Git
- Working knowledge of PHP, Drupal, and WordPress content management systems (CMS)
- Working knowledge of Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Working knowledge of transactional email systems such as MailGun
- Good to expert level understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience in detailed documentation and document sharing tools (Google Drive, MS Visio Online, Dia, Lucid Charts, Data Flow Diagrams)
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics
- Understanding of virtual event platforms and public-facing websites.
- Ability to work well within a team, responding quickly to changing priorities, while remaining focused on multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- 4 years of business analysis experience working with and leading IT/Digital teams, serving as an interpreter of internal and external client needs
- 3 years implementing and managing Agile/SCRUM environments using JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket/Git
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- SCRUM Master certification
