Bookkeeper

Position Summary

The Bookkeeper will report directly to the campus Controller and VP for Finance and Enrollment. The Bookkeeper will assist the controller with monthly and annual close, as well as prepare reconciliations, and account analysis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monthly bank statements reconciliation
  • Monthly investment statement reconciliation
  • Monthly credit card GL posting
  • Monthly Journal entries
  • Renewing stop payments
  • Assisting controller in documenting processes and workflows
  • Assisting controller with annual audit
  • Works closely with the Controller on various GL account reconciliations
  • Other projects as assigned

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma/GED, Associates degree preferred and several years of equivalent experience in a customer service environment. Experience in an office setting.

Skills

Incumbent must have attention to detail as well as exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with students and College staff in interfacing departments. Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.

Technology Skills

Advanced competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications (specifically MS Word and Excel), e-mail and internet programs and have the aptitude to learn and efficiently utilize the College’s data base system.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily completed in a typical office environment. Recruitment activities may be held in a conference room setting.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger or feel and to perceive by eye and receive information visually. The employee is frequently required to utilize close vision at 20” or less.
Reaching, kneeling and potentially stooping are required for file maintenance and walking is required at recruitment events.

This is largely a sedentary role and the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time. However, some moving of boxes for recruitment events, i.e., orientation materials, is required. This requires the ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. as necessary.

Equipment:

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Work Schedule Requirements:

A regular full-time schedule is typically worked. On rare occasions, may also require and evening or weekend hours as needed to complete work assignments.
