Inspects, repairs, and replaces batteries, motors, wires, bearings, charging units, upholstery, cables, belts, and other working parts on fitness and gymnasium equipment. Locates worn, defective, poorly adjusted parts through visual preventive maintenance checks. Selects tools, determines the method and techniques to follow depending on the machine.
Makes general repairs to mechanically operated drive gears. Uses electrical test equipment, such as voltmeters or multi-meters to check circuit continuity. Uses a variety of socket wrenches and other hand tools in performing mechanical assembly and disassembly.
Assists in relocating, retrieving, returning, and installing recreation equipment. Cleans interiors and exteriors of equipment using appropriate cleaning solutions. Makes settings and adjustments on equipment. Advises supervisor of stock level needed and any special parts required. Performs incidental cleaning tasks. May operate a vehicle to obtain supplies or move equipment.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge in equipment repair duties. Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools necessary to complete assigned duties. Must have a valid state driver's license.
RESPONSIBILITY: Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who plans, schedules and makes assignments. Work is performed within the framework of established policies, guides and procedures. Refers unusual problems to supervisor for guidance and resolution. Review is made for adherence to prescribed policies, timelines, and efficiency of operations.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stands, stoops, bends, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Most work is performed inside. Occasionally works outside sometimes in bad weather. Exposed to dirt, dust, grease, and extreme weather conditions. Exposed to possibility of cuts, bruises, and electrical shocks.
