Job Summary
Manages day-to- day activities in the clinic. This includes but is not limited to facilitation of the care and rehabilitation of patients referred for treatment, evaluates and monitors staff performance, approves staff requests, interacts with medical staff, evaluates and treats patient referrals, assures staff compliance with documentation guidelines and communicates with the Administrative Director.
Organizes and conducts physical therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. Helps patient achieve maximum performance and resumption of Activities of Daily Living. (ADL’s) and improve functional impairments. May provide educational service to hospital and community to prevent injury and promote health as well as to treat dysfunction. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
A graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy and completion of clinical requirements resulting in attainment of a Bachelor of Science (BSPT), Master’s degree (MSPT), or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT).
Must have successfully passed the National Examination and be licensed to practice in the State of Indiana.
Five years of experience as a clinician practicing in a Hospital, Outpatient, Rehabilitation, or Private practice setting.
BLS certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.
Preferred Job Requirements
Experience in a Physical Therapy Hospital Outpatient Department.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of policies, governmental regulations and business practices pertinent to the department.
Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital.
Excellent time management, and organizational skills. Requires ability to problem solve, multi-task in a fast-paced setting and work well in a team environment. Requires the ability to negotiate effective working relationships and develop positive resolution to conflict.
Highly developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
Strong interpersonal skills in order to relate to all levels of staff, patients and personality types, negotiate effective working relationships and develop positive resolutions to conflict.
Strong clinical skills to provide competent patient care based on identified needs and in cooperation with referring providers
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent leadership and administrative skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
Ability to effectively perform job functions under periods of extreme stress, meeting deadlines and producing positive outcomes.
High degree of accuracy with concentration and close attention to detail. Requires a commitment of 24-hour accountability.
Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.
Working Conditions
Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking.
Work may be subject to interruptions and occasional high stress levels.
Risk for occupational exposure to blood, body fluid and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards.
Works with protected health information.
Works in close proximity to patients and visitors.
Ability to work any shift, occasional extended hours, holidays and/or weekends based on the needs of the department.
Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment
Standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling to provide patient care and to utilize patient care devices necessary to perform duties in a safe manner.
Uses computers and other standard office equipment and lifting supplies and equipment typically found in clinical patient care areas.
Teaches use of adaptive equipment to facilitate activities of daily living, diagnostic equipment to assist in patient evaluations and therapeutic equipment utilized in treatment of patients.
