JOB TITLE: Engagement Director

DEPARTMENT: Engagement

CATEGORY: Hourly/Nonexempt

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Leads by example through promoting and developing vibrant, purposeful and engaging resident programs. Leads others to develop meaningful connections to residents, families and a greater community. Promotes a positive community image that supports a fully occupied community. Leads by example through implementation of engagement opportunities that align with successful aging in the areas of vital brains, vital bodies and vital connections.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains basic knowledge of computer software and internet platforms
  • Facilitate engagement programs that promote a vibrant lifestyle; model appropriate and successful engagement of residents.
  • Develop monthly engagement calendars and daily engagement schedules that fulfill Vitality standards at a minimum.
  • Maintain calendar postings within community to ensure residents and visitors are informed
  • Create engagement for residents based on their preferences, experiences, and lifelong interests as reported in the resident life journal.
  • Effectively leverage technology to enhance engagement for residents; use technology as a tool for team members to effectively engage residents.
  • Lead planning for special events, parties, and larger events for the entire community, including Memory Care in conjunction with other team members.
  • Participate in Vital Connections process and meetings with new residents and their family members.
  • Ensure the completion of resident life journals.
  • Invite and encourage residents to participate in engagement and when necessary, assist with escorting residents to engagement.
  • Set up, organize, and strategize programming that other team members can facilitate throughout the day and during timeframes in which Engagement Director is not present (example: weekends, evenings, etc.).
  • Establish quarterly event plan in collaboration with culinary, sales and memory care leaders and maintain necessary communication amongst leaders to ensure successful events for residents, families and greater community
  • Organize and maintain appropriate supplies for resident engagement.
  • Coordinate outings, special events, and partnerships with the greater community to enhance overall engagement experience for residents.
  • Communicate to appropriate team members observations of resident changes or concerns.
  • Develop strong relationships with family members of residents.
  • Develop volunteer program to bring outside resources and talent into the community to enhance programming further develop connections for residents
  • Develop relationships with cultural, artistic, intergenerational and other groups within the greater community that can provide resources to enhance engagement program.
  • Identify residents who are at risk for isolation and develop specific plans to enhance connections and purpose for those individuals
  • Perform staff duties necessary for immediate community operation in case of staffing problem.
  • Respect dignity and confidentiality standards and promote resident rights.
  • Complete or assist with special projects as requested by community or senior management.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures of the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

LEADERSHIP FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in the Manager on Duty program.
  • Conducts community tours to prospective residents and their families.
  • Attends various community events.
  • Increase team member recognition and reward through performance reviews and promotion.
  • Exemplify Vitality leadership values during interactions with families, residents, and team members.
  • Clearly communicate with team members and model problem-solving skills.
  • Provide team members with sufficient time and information on necessary support of engagement program and special events to ensure leadership team participation and support of engagement program overall.
  • Effectively collaborate with team members to improve resident and family experience.
  • Attend and participate in onboarding and annual training, in-services and team member meetings as requested.
  • Understand and implement all emergency plans including fire, hurricane, earthquake and other disasters. Understand roll in the safety and disaster plan. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 2 years of experience working with older adults in engagement role
  • Knowledge of aging and domains of wellness for older adults and ability to apply knowledge to development of engagement programming
  • Ability to facilitate dignified, purposeful, and individualized programming to meet the needs of residents, family, and team members.
  • Desire to work with older adults and their families
  • Projects a positive and professional image at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Demands include: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Bending, Reaching, Pushing, Pulling, Climbing Stairs, Grasping, Manual Dexterity, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Vision Acuity, Color Vision, Talking, Hearing, Tasting, and Smelling.

The weight determined to be appropriate for an Engagement Director to lift with or without reasonable accommodations is up to 25 lbs.

EXPOSURE RISK CLASSIFICATION:

May perform unplanned tasks involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue which may contain AIDS, HIV, and Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
