This position will support Casualty Claims in the timely assignment of all new losses handled by the Complex, General Liability, Construction, Products and Prompt Resolution Teams.
The position is responsible for reviewing, triaging and distributing new claims to the appropriate manager for timely assignment.
Triaging of new losses will include identifying and evaluating catastrophic claims, conducting a thorough investigation of the facts, policy limits, and damages, and drafting a report with a recommendation to Directors as to the future handling of the matters.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Sr. Triage Specialist regarding all claim assignment protocols
- Ensure timely assignment of all new claims
- Perform technical assessments all new claims for complexity level and claim value in order to segment and triage
- Serve as one of the initial points of contact for internal and external customers regarding assignment questions
- Investigate all losses designated as potential significant / catastrophic exposures and draft a triage recommendation timely.
This will include time limit / policy limit demands and mediation and trial notices.
- Identify and report on claims trends through new losses
- Serve as a liaison between the first notice of loss team and Casualty claims
- Foster and encourage strong relationships with internal stakeholders
- Promote and enhance strong relationships with customers and channel partners
- Participate in special projects as requested, including data clean-up initiatives
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Certification
Successful completion of basic insurance courses or achievement of industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU)
Work Experience
Minimum of 2 years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skill Sets
- Ability to multi-task and change course quickly
