POSITION SUMMARY
The Captain is in charge of the safe navigation, on-board safety, security and performance management while in command of the vessel. This position holds the authority to make decisions related to safety, security and environmental protection. The Captain is to ensure the owner’s asset value is maintained. The Captain is a maritime professional, a strong leader, an expert in marine safety, navigation methods, ship handling, vessel maintenance and destination planning. Other key responsibility areas include regulatory compliance, determination of logistics requirements, negotiation and coordination with service providers required for the operation of the vessel. The Captain is responsible to follow the administration, tracking forecasting and variance reporting of the yacht’s annual operating budget. The Captain builds and manages high performance teams. The Captain provides advice to owners, managers and others involved in the operation of the vessel and the management of the crew. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with the policies and standard operating procedures of the owners, managers. In addition, all duties are to be executed in conformity with ISM/SMS standards, International Codes and United States Maritime Laws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and operational support for vessel activities to Owners, Guests, and vessel staff.
- Exhibit creative problem-solving skills in development of vessel’s program and troubleshooting.
- Measure, monitor, adjust and control activities of the Head of Departments.
- Direct and control the vessel’s operation in accordance with budget objectives, such as fuel, cost, port services and maintenance.
- Coordinate communication with the vessel’s technical manager, the Chief Engineer and the owners to ensure achievement of preventive maintenance schedules and technical performance objectives. Communicates and recommends improvements are required.
- Ensure all handovers are completed as required
- Attend regular scheduled meetings as requested by management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory regimes including but not limited to; ISM Code, Classification Society and Flag State requirements.
- Manage deployment of support and ancillary crafts (tenders and toys) to meet Owners’ requirements.
- Oversee and direct all owner and guest operations, including diving, tender operations, ground transportation and shore side activities.
- Ascertain that all planned maintenance, firefighting and safety equipment maintenance is logged in TRITON in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule.
- Coordinate and execute all required safety drills mandated by IMO, and the yacht’s technical managers.
- Oversee development of vessel operational plans. Provide input to Owners and other stakeholders for potential destinations and activities.
- Responsible for the development, tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of the vessel’s annual operating budget.
- Participate in weekly conference calls to discuss financial, crew and technical matters.
- In coordination with the Owners, Yacht Managers and other key stakeholders, develop refit and refurbishment plans and specifications, ensuring the involvement of all relevant stakeholders.

Experience:
- Multi- Level Yachting: 6 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
