Are you looking for a remote job where you get high visibility, lots of control, and the ability to own the entire design system for major web properties? Alta is looking to grow its in-house design team with the addition of a talented and passionate UI/Visual Designer. In this role you'll help to define and expand upon the design systems for our web properties as well as create visual designs for marketing campaigns and internal projects. You'll work closely with marketers, project managers, product managers, developers and other designers while reporting to the Director of Design.
Our home office is in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. However, this is a full-time remote position. Whether in the office or remote, we use Slack and Ring Central (Zoom) to communicate and get work done.
- Evolve our corporate design systems. Develop and document design patterns,
curate asset libraries and promote brand integrity for both internal and public
facing efforts. - Identify design problems and challenges through low-fidelity sketches and
wireframes - Create high-fidelity designs capable of hand-off to engineering
- Create design assets and style guides for promotional landing pages and minisites
- Design logos and brand assets for new services and promotions
- Collaborate with design team members and internal partners in creative
problem-solving sessions

- A strong understanding of design fundamentals including typography, layout,
and color. - Proven ability to create custom logos and brand guidelines
- The ability to use UI Design tools (like Figma)
- Experience designing responsive websites with cross-browser functionality
- 3 years of experience working on design projects for the web
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Experience creating themes for WordPress is a plus
- The ability to work well independently but also as a member of a fully remote
team - The ability to appear in person at our Baltimore office a few times a year for
kickoff meetings and/or team building exercises - Proven time management skills with an understanding of priorities. Able to
balance multiple projects at the same time - Strong communication skills. Able to successfully collaborate with crossfunctional
teams and set clear expectations for stakeholders - Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
