What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Atlassian Administrator position at Markforged?
Senior Atlassian Administrator
As an individual contributor, you’ll be focused on providing strong internal Atlassian tooling expertise to help our organization achieve its goals. This isn’t a purely Atlassian-focused role, however - other areas of process and workflow automation are also a key area.
What will you own?
- Manage the administration of Atlassian tools, including system configuration, user management, security settings, and integrations with other systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and design customized workflows, templates, and dashboards for Atlassian tools.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Atlassian administrators, sharing best practices and promoting continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain Atlassian dashboards, filters, and reports to provide actionable insights and facilitate decision-making for project teams and management.
- Ensure the integrity, reliability, and performance of the Atlassian tools through routine system maintenance, including upgrades, patches, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate Atlassian tools with other tools and systems, such as source control, build automation, and deployment tools.
- Evaluate and implement Atlassian plugins and integrations to enhance functionality and support evolving business requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, provide timely resolution, and investigate system errors or anomalies.
- Conduct regular health checks and audits of the Atlassian tools to identify areas for improvement, optimize system configurations, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Stay abreast of the latest Atlassian features, functionalities, and industry trends, and assess their applicability to enhance the organization’s Atlassian capabilities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for Atlassian-related issues, providing guidance and support to users and project teams.
- Drive user adoption and deliver training sessions to promote efficient and effective utilization of Atlassian tools across the organization.
Important Note:
Although we list out what we generally look for, we are very likely missing other attributes and skills that you have that could make you a great fit, but are not currently listed. Research has shown this especially applies to women and other marginalized groups, who tend to apply if they check 100% of every box, versus men who apply if they hit roughly 60%. The point we’re getting at, it doesn’t hurt to take a chance and apply!
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5 years of proven experience as a Senior Atlassian Administrator or similar role, with a track record of successfully managing and enhancing Atlassian tools in enterprise environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Atlassian tools and their administration, including JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, JWM, JSW, JPM, JSM, Trello, Atlas, Assist, Beacon, etc.
