POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant will work at Marlen’s Riverside, Missouri offices. The Accountant reports to the Controller and serves as a key member of the accounting/finance team. In this position, you will be responsible for contributing to the reporting of periodic results and closing periods, monthly reconciliations of the balance sheet account, managing fixed assets, processing and recording payroll, and acting as a liaison between the finance group and other departments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow department operating practices and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and internal accounting policies.
- Be an active member of the finance team and participate in discussions/decisions.
- Act as a liaison between the finance group and other departments within the operating company and within the organization.
- Perform month-end closing procedure including accruals and adjusting journal entries.
- Monthly reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts including multiple intercompany accounts.
- Tracking, recording, and deprecation of fixed assets.
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries for biweekly payrolls. Prepare and post payroll accrual entries.
- Calculate, accrue, and initiate payments for sales commissions, distribute commission statements.
- Assist with foreign currency translations.
- Prepare various schedules and tasks for audits.
- Assist with monthly financial variance analysis.
- Process biweekly payroll.
- Participate in additional special projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Staff Accountant, Cost Accountant, or General Ledger Accountant.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a contributing member of an energetic team.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft software products (particularly Excel)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A willing attitude to get involved within the business.
- Strong GAAP knowledge.
- Experience in preparing account reconciliations
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience with a manufacturing company is a plus.
- Experience with Syteline ERP and Paycom HRIS is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects of light weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment for this position is in an office setting; the noise levels are considered low. The offices of Marlen are climate controlled. Infrequent trips to production or warehouse areas may be required.
