Job description
We are looking for an experienced Social Services Director to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall facility social services department. You will create a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies. There, all personnel will be able to do their best in caring for patients. A Social Services Director should have once been a hard-working and compassionate social worker who steadily developed their managerial and administrative skills. Being efficient, dedicated, a good listener and a problem-solver is what will open our door for you. Responsibilities
· Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the social service programs of the facility.
· Complete resident assessments and attend plan of care meetings.
· Provide information to resident / families regarding Medicare / Medicaid, and other financial assistance programs available to the resident.
· Refer resident / families to appropriate social service agencies when the facility does not provide the services or needs of the resident.
· Assist in developing and implementing department policies and procedures.
· Review and update departmental job descriptions at least annually.
· Assist in arranging transportation to other facilities when necessary.
· Coordinate social services activities with other departments as necessary.
· Participate in facility surveys (inspections) and attend quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) meetings.
· Develop and maintain a community and social services referral file of agencies and organizations that provide assistance to residents.
· Schedule department work hours.
· Review departmental complaints and grievances from personnel and make written reports to the Administrator.
· Determine department’s staffing requirements.
· Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations as well as professional standards and make recommendations on changes in facility policies and procedures to the Administrator.
· Conduct departmental performance evaluations and provide staff in-services.
· Counsel / discipline department personnel as requested or as necessary.
· Inventory management.
· Forecast and prepare department’s budget for equipment, supplies, and labor.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services field; MSW preferred.
- Minimum of two years of proven social work experience.
- Minimum one year experience in a supervisory role.
- Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Understanding of basic budgeting and financial reporting.
- Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in social services.
- Excellent ability to lead and develop personnel.
- Great communication and people skills.
- Outstanding organizational and stress management skills.
- Aptitude in problem-solving.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing social services.
