Facility & Safety Coordinator

Summary/purpose of the position:
This position is responsible for organization, coordination and execution of various activities required to ensure a safe and secure working environment at Marotta Controls, Inc. The Facility & Safety Coordinator must keep abreast of any changes related to safety and security requirements that may impact the organization. This position supports various activities to ensure the goals, objectives and strategies of the Marotta organization are achieved. In addition, the position requires effective interaction with a broad spectrum of people both internal and external to the organization to successfully support the organization.
Essential job functions and responsibilities
  • Assist in the generation, implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and security policies/ procedures for all areas of the organization.
  • Perform routine facility-wide inspections to evaluate, identify and document potential safety, security, and other workplace risks required to take the appropriate corrective action to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Support activities related to the management and maintenance of the First Responder Program
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Support root cause analysis and recommend or implement the appropriate corrective actions
  • Responsible for the effective operation of the Emergency Mustering System required for facility-wide evacuations
  • Organize, coordinate, and conduct employee Fork/Scissor Lift training
  • Work effectively with various personnel to encourage a secure and safe work environment.
  • Control and maintain the database for recording all keys used within the facility
  • Coordinates, schedules, and conducts training pertaining to workplace safety, security, new hire briefings and other relevant topics (I.e., annual health and safety training, and forklift training).
  • Participates in the coordination and physical execution of employee relocations, inclusive of required computer connections and the maintenance of seating charts and floorplan maps.
  • Schedules and coordinates Vendor/Contractor visits providing the required oversight, guidance, and support to ensure a successful facility visit
  • Adjusts work assignments and priorities based on information from various management groups and production schedules
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Bring projects, and other assignments to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization
  • Abide by all safety, health, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication
  • Actively participate in meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values goals and objectives
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant issues
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required
Education, Certifications, and Years of Experience
  • Min. of a (2) yr. technical degree (Safety field preferred)
  • (1-5) years of related experience in supporting aspects of facility maintenance with responsibilities in safety and security
  • OSHA 30 Training
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of safety and security
  • Able to interpret technical data requirements, specifications, regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Self-motivated with ability to effectively interface with various personnel through written and verbal communication
  • Possess the visual acuity and attentiveness to detail required to perform thorough facility-wide inspections
  • Possess effective verbal/written communication skills required for effective interactions with all levels of personnel both internal and external to the organization
  • Possess analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Work effectively in both an independent and team-based environment requiring minimal guidance and oversight
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Must be a US Citizen
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • This job interacts both in a professional office and manufacturing environments. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing, head and foot protection (as req’d.)
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures and manufacturing processes
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Additional time maybe required, as job duties and schedules demand.
  • Some local travel is required for this position (5-20%)
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer maybe required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may be required to lift, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds
