Sr Project Accountant - General Contractor/Construction

Job Overview

SAM Construction Group is a growing and dynamic construction company which specializes in new apartment construction. We are seeking a sharp individual with experience in construction accounting working out of our Scottsdale, Arizona office. This is a new position and will be in a great position to help shape the team and set policies and procedures as we continue to grow. This position is full time and reports to the Construction Controller.

Core Responsibilities

· Review and audit subcontractor pay applications

· Process all incoming accounts payable invoices, taking into account the project budgets

· Coordinate with Construction team for necessary budget adjustments

· Coordinate with Construction team for OCIP Notices of Award

· Gather all necessary vendor information (W-9s, etc) to process contracts

· Ensure all executed contracts are appropriately filed and entered in accounting software (RealPage)

· Track subcontractor/material lien waivers

· Track AZ 20-day Preliminary Notices

· Track Fixed Assets

· Assist preparing monthly General Contractor pay applications to Owner

· Assist in preparing monthly TPT return to AZ Department of Revenue

· Assist in creating Procedures manuals for relevant processes

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· 3-5 years prior experience in project accounting/accounts payable

· General Contractor experience strongly preferred.

· Possesses superior attention to detail in order to spot inconsistencies in contracts

· Has previous experience in customer service and strong communication skills

· Able to work productively independently and as part of a team

· Must have excellent analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities

· Should exhibit strong organizational and time management abilities
