Rate of pay: $14.00

Schedule: Varies. Most weekends. Open availability is required. Seasonal position.

Examples of Tasks:

  • Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
  • Prepare merchandise for purchase.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
  • Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
  • Clean shelves, counters, and tables.
  • Maintain records related to sales.
  • Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures or policies.
  • Help customers find the location of products.
  • Assist customers by providing information and resolving their complaints.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties, such as mopping floors and emptying trash cans.
  • Answer incoming phone calls.
  • Assist with duties in other areas of the store.
  • Offer customers carry-out service at the completion of transactions.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices.
  • Inform maintenance personnel when equipment is not working properly.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager.

Cheese Associate Tasks

  • Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
  • Ticket, arrange, and display merchandise to promote sales.
  • Place special orders.
  • Clean shelves, counters, and tables.
  • Bag, box, wrap, or gift-wrap merchandise, and prepare packages for shipment.
  • Stock shelves, sort, and reshelve returned items, and mark prices on items and shelves.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
  • Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
  • Portion and wrap food.
  • Prepare a variety of foods, such as cheeses and meats, according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
  • Store backup food in refrigerated storage cabinets.
  • Stock cupboards and refrigerators.
  • Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
  • Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
  • Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Weigh or measure food.
  • Inform supervisors when food and supplies are getting low.
  • Use manual or electric appliances to clean and slice cheeses, meats, and breads.
  • Scrape food scraps into garbage containers.
  • Load dishes, glasses, and tableware into dishwashing machines or clean manually.
  • Keep records of unpredicted food waste.
  • Sweep, scrub, and mop floor.

  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Mathematics - Knowledge of basic arithmetic and statistics, and their applications (with use of calculator).

  • Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
