What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler position at Mars?
Hours: Day Shift (Monday–Friday)
Purpose of Role:
Robust maintenance planning and scheduling operations ensure the most efficient use of maintenance resources (maintenance productivity) and contribute to increased equipment reliability. The primary role of the maintenance planner/scheduler is to improve equipment reliability while minimizing costs. This is accomplished via sound planning practices, which includes efficient utilization of labor, parts, materials, and outside vendor services. The planner/scheduler is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities performed in his/her assigned production area. The planner/scheduler maintains liaisons and coordination between maintenance and other departments. The planner/scheduler also maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis for reporting on the effectiveness of maintenance planning and scheduling, and its business impact. The planner/scheduler analyzes maintenance performance and recommends actions for improvement.
What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience/familiarity in maintenance/reliability related role
- 1 years of experience in SAP and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Practical knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Ability to convey communications clearly and concisely in English
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work rotating shifts (when necessary) under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, heights, and/or confined spaces
- Have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to lift 50 lb
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in maintenance/reliability
- 3 years of experience in SAP
- Previous maintenance storeroom experience
- Experience in a total productive maintenance (TPM) manufacturing environment
- Foundational knowledge of quality & food safety in a manufacturing environment
- Foundational knowledge of workplace safety in a manufacturing environment
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Collaborate with production managers, maintenance leaders, production leaders, and production schedulers to plan and execute work orders effectively
- Provide maintenance leaders and production leaders with reports, PMs, work orders, and other tools needed to effectively direct maintenance technicians and operators to complete work orders
- Demonstrate knowledge of each department’s activities to effectively and efficiently schedule work orders in each area
- Attend daily operations meeting (daily connection point) and report reliability metrics
- Maintain creation, planning, scheduling, and closing of work orders in plant’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Convert all planned maintenance notifications into work orders and coach operators (and others) on how to input this notification type
- Review and ensure work orders are properly filled out:
- Identify and obtain necessary materials, work instructions, manuals, appropriate tools, etc. to execute planned work orders
- Network within business segment and across segments
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting on planning/ scheduling to reliability engineers and plant technical manager
- Own Bill of Materials (BOMs) documentation for plant to ensure parts are tied to correct equipment
- Lead weekly maintenance planning meeting for alignment with Operations regarding upcoming PM days
- Assist operators and other plant personnel with work orders during planned downtime periods (as needed) to build capability
- Collaborate with production schedulers to ensure adequate downtime is planned to complete maintenance work
- Examine scheduled jobs and determine best way to accomplish work in coordination with maintenance leaders
- Assist in kitting parts for work orders
- Create work orders after predictive measurements require an intervention
- Demonstrate ability to execute other job duties (as assigned by plant leadership team)

Salary : $66,500 - $84,300
