Position Title: Relief Operator
Reporting To: Production Shift Supervisor
Location: Columbia, SC
Role of Position
The role of this position is to relieve extruder operators and batching operators for breaks and
lunches. This role must be able to perform functions and duties of both these positions.
Principal Accountabilities
- Learn to efficiently operate batching, extrusion, coating and receiving areas efficiently
- Responsible for communicating and elevating any quality and food safety concerns to site management.
- Keep processing area clean and sanitary
- Assist Extruder Operators and Mill Room Operators as needed
- Select correct fats, digest and powders; and operate coating system
- Keep powder applicators filled with correct product and record accurate usage reports
- Keep production records as required
- Observe and follow all safety practices and standards
- Know and understand site's CCP's and report any findings of deficiencies to site quality manager.
- Associate is responsible for communicating and elevating any quality and food safety concerns to site management.
Key Functional Skills and Knowledge
- Communicate appropriate information to coworkers and supervisors.
- Work as a member of a team
- Proper set up for various products; able to read and understand written instructions; recognize various fats, digests and powders and valves and switches on coating system
- Knowledge of batching and mill room operation
- Understand job standards in regards to productivity, quality and waste
- Ability to lift up to 52 lbs.
- Must learn all skills needed to fill in for batching operator and extruder operator.
Work Environment and Time Requirements
- Fast paced, manufacturing environment.
- Regular shift hours and weekend overtime is required.
Desired Education/Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma and 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
