What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supplier Quality Assurance position at Mars?
The purpose of this job is to represent Mars, leading quality audits & build a professional relationship with suppliers and to guard and improve the quality of inbound raw & pack materials for the Food sites as per the global Quality Management standards.

Key responsibilities:
Perform supplier audits & Initial assessments
o Verifying the quality and effectiveness of the controls by auditing the
suppliers’ production facilities and implement & follow up corrective actions
where needed.
o Represent Mars at suppliers and ensure all suppliers are assigned a current
status and defined verification plans
Continuous Improvement
o Manage risks (Verified & identified during audits & non conformances) by
initiating and driving actions, both internally and externally at the supplier.
o Monitor and report quality performance of suppliers but also undertake
supplier development activities to build capabilities.
o Contribute Q&FS insights and Material quality management standards to the
supply strategy.
Non Conformances Management
o Manage ad-hoc quality supplier related issues.
o Initiate, drive and follow-up on corrective actions related to materials &
suppliers and inform internal stakeholders.
Quality & food safety risk assessment
o Assessing the risks of existing and new materials and ensuring these risks are
transferred into specifications (microbiological, chemical and physical).
o Understanding the controls that suppliers have in place for controlling these
risks
o Partner with buyer to ensure material risk assessment & specifications are
reviewed, understood and agreed by the supplier.
Qualifications:
Higher Education (Science / Food Science Technology or related area).
Minimum of two years’ practical working experience in Quality & Food Safety /
Technical function or close related technical area.
Key Requirements
Good understanding of Quality & Food Safety and Material Quality management standards & legislation.
Cover multiple food industry technologies.
Understanding of HACCP / Quality Management Systems and auditing techniques (LRQA lead auditor course is a prerequisite).

Excellent stakeholder management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Prepared to travel (25% of time) to suppliers within the relevant region
Fluent in written and spoken English
